Add Bavasi to Your Christmas Card List

Could there be a worse GM in baseball? Bill Bavasi is doing his best Matt Millen impersonation this offseason. His latest signing? Our buddy ol' pal, Hair Weave, who somehow wrangled $8.325 million out of the Mariners' clueless GM. Just take a look at this rotation and laugh. It's OK.

1. Felix Hernandez (OK, great pitcher. Moving on...)
2. Boingo
3. Weaver
4. Miguel Batista (Better poet than pitcher)
5. Horacio Ramirez (WOW! And who did they trade to get this guy? Rafael Soriano. Brilliant!)

The bottom line is, I'm very happy Weaver is back in the AL West. If the M's don't lead the majors in home runs allowed, I'll be shocked.

Agreed. M's rotation is a beauty. And after Hernandez goes DL mid-season, it will look even better. Of course, when the Angels come to town, Weaver will shut them down.

Oh, I think the Angels will crush him. His postseason is all but gone. Gary Matthews Jr. will hit bombs off him...

Anonymous Mariners fan here. I;m actually related to WiseandEck Like the blog. The rotation is atrocious, and the sad thing is that the bullpen is worse. Chris Reitsma is like 37. So Sherill and Putz are good. Mateo is inconsistent and the great Mark Lowe is out until at least July. The lineup is not bad on paper, but it hasn't been for the last three years. They just still manage 2.6 runs a game. They do have plusses, perhaps the best young middle-infield in the division, maybe the league. Still, translates to maybe 78 wins. Bavasi is horrible. Soriano was the future, he was nasty. And he let him go. For nothing.
